Advance Directive (Living Will)
This Legal Document typically allows you to stipulate what medical treatment you do or do not want in the event that you are unable to communicate your wishes and specifies the circumstances in which you would wish medical treatment to be withdrawn.
Mental Health Tribunal
Legal Aid is available to all individuals detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act. It is also available to named persons to allow them to obtain Legal advice and representation. We can attend at the hospital to meet patients and we have extensive experience in attending at Mental Health Tribunals to challenge Short Term Detention Certificates and Compulsory Treatment Orders.
Fatal Accident Inquiry
An Fatal Accident Inquiry is instructed by the Procurator Fiscal and can take place into any fatal accident that occurs in Scotland but commonly in relation to deaths that give rise to public concern . This is an investigative process that determines the cause of the accident and following evidence the Sheriff will issue a determination.
